Bill Daly Azalea

Dalyazalea1 Uncle Pete has a story for each tree in his vast inventory. This azalea was started from a rooted cutting given to Pete from his friend Bill Daly and has been grown in a pot for 30 years.

Dalyazalea2 This tree has not been worked on for several years and Pete asked me to open it up. As John Naka would say “to let the birds fly through”.

Dalyazalea5 I chose this as the back because the very heavy branch on the right distracted the view of the trunk.

Dalyazalea3 This is the front I chose. Fantastic nebari and even trunk taper from bottom to top. Almost perfect. Time and patience has really paid off here.

Dalyazalea4 This tree is 15 inches tall with a 4 inch nebari spread. More work is needed to refine this tree but that will have to wait until spring.

Have fun!
